Ingredients
- 2-3 lbs Flanken Style Short Ribs
- 1 can of Coke or Dr. Pepper
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup of red wine
- Seasoning of choice
- 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 Tbsp flour
Equipment
- Gravy separator (optional but makes things easier)
- Slow cooker or dutch oven
Directions
- Season ribs as per your ancestors
- Pour oil in skillet on high heat, brown each side in batches and place in slow cooker
- Deglaze skillet with wine, scrape up bits and pour in slow cooker
- Pour soda and soy sauce in slow cooker
- Cook for 3-4 hr on HIGH
- Remove ribs (should be falling off the bone)
- Pour liquid into gravy separator, keep 2 tbsp of fat
- Make roux with fat and flour, pour in separated liquid
- Serve with rice, mashed potatoes or grits
